[Vortex] Tab widths [was: How to submit patches?]

Francis replied (I've accidentally deleted his email, so I can't  
quote) that tabs should be consistently 8 spaces wide.

However, most/all the tabs in the 1.0 source tree are 4 characters  
wide. Should this be fixed, or did you mean to say 4 instead of 8,  
Francis?
