[Vortex] How to check if conneciton can be closed?

Hi, subject says is all ;-). Background: I want to avoid that my clients  
calls "vortex_connection_shutdown" / "vortex_connection_close" during  
on-going transfers. How can I check if the connection is "silent" on all  
channels?

Is "vortex_get_prending_msgs" the right function? Robert
