This is the point. vortex_channel_empty_new can only fail if it receives
a broken (unconnected) connection. It seems the connection is closed
between the frame reception and the call to vortex_channel_empty_new.

Reviewing vortex_channel_empty_new it is clear it is not required to
configure ->is_opened attribute to axl_false (already done).
