Hi Benoit,

If you want to, you can build on this patch upgrading it to something
like vortex_assert which is only effective when the user activates it
due to a vortex_assert_enable or because an environment variable
activated like VORTEX_ASSERT=1. 

See how it is implemented vortex_log_enable and vortex_log_is_enabled...
